Alton Towers Activity Trip for Young People in Our Care

Did you know we provide activity money and pocket money to our YPs every week?

Planning the Trip

On 16th June 2026, one of the YPs at Enidaso decided they wanted to take a trip to Alton Towers after watching videos of the rides on YouTube, which sparked excitement and interest in visiting the park in person.

We facilitated this request and provided transport to the location. The driver was staff member Mohammad Kyani, who drove in the company car, a Nissan X-Trail, with two other support workers (Peace Ezeukwu and Summaya Sheikhabdullahi) accompanying the trip to ensure the Young Person was supported throughout the day and had a safe and enjoyable experience.

Activity Money and Independence

The Young Person receives £25 activity money and £15 pocket money each week. This supports participation in trips like this while encouraging independence, budgeting and decision making.

Throughout the day, the Young Person was able to make choices about spending and activities, with staff providing guidance where needed.

Food Choices and Daily Routine

During the visit, the Young Person brought a packed lunch with them, allowing the Young Person to eat comfortably while spending time around the park.

Later, on the journey home, the Young Person chose to buy KFC, using their money to make an independent choice and enjoy a treat after a full day of activities.

Experiences and Rides

Battle Galleons

One of the first rides experienced was Battle Galleons, an interactive water ride where visitors sit in themed pirate boats and use mounted water cannons. The ride environment includes water features, lanterns and skull themed decorations, creating an engaging and playful atmosphere. This allowed the Young Person to take part in an interactive experience while enjoying the outdoor environment.

The Young Person also spent time exploring CBeebies Land, a brightly coloured area designed for engagement and relaxation. The rainbow themed backdrop and character props provided a fun space to take photos and enjoy a calmer part of the park, offering a balance to the more active rides.

Congo River Rapids

Another attraction experienced was Congo River Rapids, where visitors sit in a circular raft and travel through a water course surrounded by rocks and wooden fencing. This ride offered a group based experience with movement and water interaction, adding to the excitement of the day.

YP posing next to the Wicker Man.

Wicker Man

A highlight of the trip was Wicker Man, one of the park’s most iconic roller coasters. The large wicker structure in the queue and station area, made from interwoven wooden branches with glowing effects, created a strong visual impression. The themed environment, including wooden beams and decorative elements, added to the immersive experience. The Young Person was able to engage with this attraction, which combines speed, storytelling and visual effects.

Outcome of the Trip

Throughout the day, the Young Person made choices about activities and spending, supported by staff. This encouraged independence, confidence and positive decision making while ensuring safety and guidance were maintained.

Overall, the trip to Alton Towers was a positive and enriching experience. It demonstrated how activity money can support Young People to take part in meaningful activities, build independence and enjoy experiences that they have shown a personal interest in.
