🎃 Choosing Halloween Decorations and Building Independence

Supporting Independence Through Community Experiences

We believe that everyday experiences can play an important role in helping young people build confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging.

Recently, one of the young people we support enjoyed a day out that combined community engagement, personal choice, and plenty of fun. The outing took place as Halloween preparations got underway.

The day began with a visit to B&M. Here, the young person explored seasonal displays and chose Halloween decorations for the home.

Whilst exploring the Halloween displays, the young person enjoyed trying on a variety of masks. Afterwards, the young person selected decorations for the home. This made the shopping trip both engaging and memorable.

Making Choices and Building Confidence

Activities that involve decision-making can help young people develop confidence in everyday situations. For example, selecting decorations allows young people to express their preferences and make informed choices.

These experiences encourage young people to express their preferences, make informed choices, and take an active role in activities that matter to them.

As Halloween approaches, activities like these provide valuable opportunities for young people to engage with their local community, make choices and take an active role in creating positive experiences. From selecting decorations to exploring seasonal displays, everyday outings can help build confidence, encourage independence, and create lasting memories.
